Senator JV Ejercito urged President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo to patch up their differences and work together for the betterment of the country.

The young senator made the appeal amidst the growing animosity between the two top leaders of the country over several issues.

In an interview here in Davao City Friday, March 17, Senator Ejercito expressed sadness in the not so good relationship between President Duterte and VP Robredo which has now gone international after Robredo’s message to the United Nations accusing the Duterte administration of violation of human rights.

Ejercito said he had past encounters with both Duterte and Robredo in the past and he finds them both sincere in their desire to help the Filipinos. The senator said that if only both leaders would find ways to agree on the issues at hand, the country would have a brighter future.

On the impeachment complaint filed against President Duterte at the Lower House, Senator Ejercito said that one of the most modest public official he encountered was President Duterte back when they were still both mayors.

Ejercito said that if indeed Duterte has billions of pesos in his bank accounts, it would have manifested in his lifestyle.

Ejercito meanwhile owned up to his shortcoming when he posted a photo of what was supposed to be a private dinner between several senators and President Duterte several days back.

The senator said he never intended to put the President on the spot. Ejercito clarified though that nothing sensitive was discussed in the said dinner which was attended by Senate President Koko Pimentel, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, Majority Leader Tito Sotto III, Senators Sonny Angara, Loren Legarda, Nancy Binay, Richard Gordon, Manny Pacquiao, Joel Villanueva, Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe, Migz Zubiri, and Win Gatchalian.

Ejercito said that the mood during the dinner was very light and there was not much discussions on political issues. He jested that so light was the mood that the topic had shifted to the lovelife of one of the lady senator.
