The New People’s Army released two of its captive soldiers taken in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat last February 2.
Released on Wednesday, April 19, were Sgt. Solaiman Calocop and PFC Samuel Garay of the 39th Infantry Battalion Philippine Army.
The two were released in an undisclosed area somewhere in Davao del Sur earlier today.
They were turned over by the NPA rebels to the crisis management committee of Columbio.
Several non-government organizations also witnessed the turnover of the two captives.
Columbio police chief Sr. insp. Bernard Francia confirmed the release of Sgt. Calocop and Pfc. Garay.
He said the two will immediately be turned to their mother unit and would undergo medical checkup to ensure that they are healthy after more than two months of being held captive.
