The Bangsamoro community led by the Moro National Liberation Front joined the 78th Araw ng Davao celebration which culminated with the Parada Dabawenyo this morning.
The MNLF contingent is led by the MNLF community in Sirawan, Toril along with the Bangsamoro Spotters for Peace and Development composed of other Muslim communities in the city.
The MNLF were allowed by the organizers to don their fatigue uniforms. Their children also joined the parade shouting Allah Hu Akbar.
Hundreds of supporters of the Duterte for Peace Movement also joined the Araw ng Davao celebration.
As early as last week, several Duterte supporters from all over the country have started arriving in the city. Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s chief aide Lawrence “Bong” Go however said that they were requested not to join the Civic-Military parade wearing their Duterte Atin to Pre shirts and the likes as the activity is “non-political”.
Some local supporters from the barangays were however not prevented by the organizers from wearing their support shirts. Participants from the Barangay Hizon wore red shirts with “Duterte for Peace Pilipinas” along with banners bearing the same logo.
Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno is also on stage early along with the city officials led by Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte. Senator Peter Allan Cayetano is also in attendance.
Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is also expected to attend the culmination event here at the Rizal Park.
A total of 184 contingents participated in the Parada Dabawenyo this morning.
Aside from the civic parade, several activities were also held here since last week. Among them were the Mutya ng Davao won by Kris Abegail Guanzon, the rave party at the Crocodile Park last Saturday attended by thousands of young Dabawenyos, the Datu Bago Awards, the invitational golf tournament, and many more.
