Authorities have raised flood and landslide alert in the Davao Region as tropical depression Seniang is set to make a landfall in Surigao del Sur Monday, December 29.
The Office of Civil Defense 11 warned those living near the rivers and mountain slopes to take precautionary measures since Sunday.
Among those expected to be affected by the tropical depression are those along the Davao Del Norte rivers and its tributaries particularly Tagum-Libuganon, Saug, Tuganay and Lasang; Davao Oriental rivers and its tributaries particularly Cateel, Dapras, Mahaneb, Manurigao, Caraga, Sumlog, Casaunan, Guinonoan, Bugnan-Mayo, Bitanayan and Baganga-Mahaneb; And Compostela Valley rivers and its tributaries particularly Hijo and Matibo.
Those in the low-lying areas are also given warning by the authorities after many areas in the Davao Region have been experiencing non-stop rain since Sunday.
PAGASA said Seniang is likely to make landfall Monday morning in the vicinity of Tandag, Surigao del Sur.
By Tuesday afternoon, Seniang is expected to be 100 km west of Dipolog City and 190 km southeast of of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan by Wednesday afternoon.
