Four towns in North Cotabato were affected by flashflood Thursday resulting to the death of two persons.
The affected towns are Arakan, Magpet, Kabacan, and President Roxas.
Cynthia Ortega of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said 61-year old Wennie Pastores Pajenado of Arakan Valley drowned in Makalangot river around 5:30 a.m. of January 22.
A 14-year old boy, Mark Bryan Amores, also drowned in Bangilan, Kabacan.
In Magpet town, the house of Arlene and Arnold Gamboa was damaged by raging floodwaters.
A carabao owned by a certain Mr. Catagman also drowned.
In Kabacan, affected barangays are Kayaga, Poblacion, Aringay, Salapungan, Pedtad, and Buluan.
Hundreds of residents as well as students from the University of Southern Mindanao were evacuated to the Kabacan municipal gymnasium, USM gym, and the national highway for safety.
The highway of Kayaga going to Carmen town was also flooded. Evacuees are on the streets as both the provincial and municipal governments are joining hands in assisting them.
In President Roxas, 4 barangays were also affected by flooding. Rice fields and livestocks were also destroyed.
