Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is currently on the lead in TIME Magazine’s online poll for the 100 most influential people for 2017.
As for Sunday evening, March 26, Duterte is leading the poll with about 13% of the votes. Coming in a distant second with 3% were Pope Francis, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bill Gates and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Other internationally renowned personalities who garnered 2% of the votes were Emman Watson, Beyoncè, Jack Ma, Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, JK Rowling, Stephen Curry, Dwayne Johnson, US President Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Ryan Reynolds among others.
The TIME 100 is an annual list of the most influential people in the world that features a number of leading artists, politicians, lawmakers, scientists and leaders of tech and business.
The poll will however have no bearing on the final list as it would be the TIME’s editors who will choose the final list of honorees. TIME Magazine simply wanted their readers to share their choices as well.
Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. E.T. on April 16, and the winner of the reader poll will be announced immediately after. This year’s official TIME 100 list will be announced April 20.
