KIDAPAWAN CITY – Students from the Cotabato and Kidapawan Divisions were declared as champions in the recently concluded “Paligsahan ng Kasaysayan” Centennial Quiz on the Air competition at the dxND Radyo Bida Mini-Auditorium in Kidapawan City on March 26, 2014.
Joselito G. Tolentino of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Kabacan bested three other contestants and declared as champion in the tertiary or college category. .
He received a cash prize of P 20,000, trophy and certificate from the Provincial Government of Cotabato and P5,000 was also awarded to her teacher-coach Wilhelmina Mirales.
Other winners in the tertiary category were Joebert Gocotano of the USM-Kidapawan City Campus, 1st runner with P15,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate and Gerome Mikhail Tipan of the Southern Christian College (SCC) 2nd runner up with P10,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate
For the secondary or high school category, Bai Mignon Fatima S. Plang of the Kidapawan City Division bested four other contestant and became the champion where she also received P20,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate.
Aleli Marie G. Gatuslao of the Sultan Kudarat Division was declared as 1st runner up in the secondary category with P 15,000, trophy and certificate, Raijannah K. Ampuan of the Cotabato City Division, 2nd runner-up with P 10,000, trophy and certificate; Ma. Dwiza J. Floro of the Cotabato Division.
For the elementary category, Daniel Gary S. Gabuat of the Cotabato Division was declared the champion (P20,000), Carl Jefferson B. Rosal of Kidapawan Division, 1st runner-up (P15,000), Kristofer R. Sano of Sultan Kudarat Division 2nd runner-up (P10,000) and Klent Keo E. Loquias of Sarangani Division (P 5,000).
Nadzman Rafiquia of Cotabato City Division was given the consolation prize of P 1,000. All of them were given trophies and certificates, too.
Cotabato Gov. Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza for her part, lauded the contestants and their teacher-coaches for the honor they brought their respective schools.
She said that the schools have contributed much to the success of the competition by sending their best students and teacher-coaches to Kidapawan City for the contest proper.
She also said that the provincial government has allotted higher prizes for the emerging winners as it would entice the students and teachers and the school in general to join.
The Provincial Government of Cotabato thru the Provincial Legal Office (PLO) and the DepEd has created a Secretariat which successfully collaborated with each other during the whole duration of the competition from school and division eliminations up to the final contest.
The Secretariat is composed of Atty Jonah E. Denaque-Mineses, Provincial Legal Officer, Helen Sheila M. Reyes, Virginia P. Agpalo, Focal Persons for the competition, Dr. Omar A.
