The Bautistas of the newly-created province of Davao Occidental have filed their respective certificates of candidacy in Malita Comelec office Monday morning.
Aside from the three Bautista brothers, their sister Lorna Bautista Bandigan is also joining politics as she filed her COC for the lone congressional seat of Davao Occidental under the Liberal Party.
Incumbent Davao del Sur Gov. Claude Bautista is meanwhile still contemplating whether to seek reelection or run for governor of Davao Occidental. Joseph Bautista, who is in his last term as Malita mayor, filed his COC for the vice mayoralty race under the slate of his nephew, Bradley, a son of Davao del Sur 2nd district Representative Franklin Bautista, who also filed his COC as Malita mayor under LP.
Franklin, who earlier signified interest on running for the Davao Occidental vice gubernatorial race, has yet to file his COC. Franklin said that he is still waiting for the final decision of his younger brother, Claude.
Gov. Claude Bautista, chair of the Nationalist People’s Coalition in the undivided Davao del Sur, for his part said he might file his COC on the 16th. But he refused to categorically say if it would be for Davao Occidental governor or for reelection in Davao del Sur.
